The Pixelmon Successor That Won
Cobblemon has crossed 25.5 million downloads on CurseForge, making it one of the most downloaded Minecraft mods of all time. The open-source Pokémon mod has effectively replaced Pixelmon as the go-to way to play Pokémon in Minecraft, with better performance, a blocky art style that fits Minecraft's aesthetic, and active development.
Unlike Pixelmon's high-poly models, Cobblemon uses voxel-style Pokémon that look like they actually belong in the Minecraft world. Every Pokémon has custom animations for walking, battling, idle states, and even sleeping.
Official Modpacks Thriving
The Cobblemon team maintains official modpacks on both major mod loaders:

Community packs are exploding too. Cobblemon SMP has 598K+ downloads, and several new packs launched in March.

Released March 7, Cobbleverse - Pokémon Adventure is already making waves. It features:

Cobblemon is surprisingly lightweight compared to the old Pixelmon days:
- Base Cobblemon: 4-6 GB RAM for small groups
- Cobbleverse/Full packs: 6-8 GB RAM for 5-15 players
- Large communities: 10 GB+ recommended
