How to Set Up a Create Aeronautics Server in 2026
Create Aeronautics adds physics-based aircraft, airships, and vehicles to Create. Here is how to run it on a multiplayer server, including modpack picks, RAM requirements, and two ways to get airborne with friends.

What is Create Aeronautics?
Create Aeronautics is a major expansion mod built on top of the Create Mod that adds full physics-driven aircraft, airships, and vehicles to Minecraft. Where vanilla Create gives you mechanical contraptions that move along rails or assembled bearings, Aeronautics introduces real flight dynamics — lift, drag, thrust, and weight — so the planes, drones, hot-air balloons, and cars you build actually fly the way they should.
Under the hood, Aeronautics uses the Sable physics library to simulate moving block structures as rigid bodies. Each contraption has a center of mass, a wing area, an engine, and control surfaces. Build a plane wrong and it will stall, spin out, and crash. Build it right and you can fly it across the entire map at full throttle.
For multiplayer servers, Aeronautics is one of the most exciting Create-based experiences available right now. Players can engineer aircraft together, race custom airships across procedurally generated terrain, and run logistics networks that move resources between bases by air instead of by rail. It is engineering Minecraft at its absolute best — and the modpack ecosystem has exploded in 2026 as content creators discover what is possible.
Choosing a Create Aeronautics Modpack
Create Aeronautics ships as a standalone mod, but the most popular way to play is through one of the curated modpacks built around it. Here are the options worth considering for a server:
All of Create — Aeronautics
The flagship Aeronautics pack. Bundles Create Aeronautics with 50+ companion mods, a quest progression system, and tuned configs. Built on NeoForge 1.21.1 and updated to v1.4 in 2026. The most polished entry point and the pack we recommend for most servers.
Create Aeronautica
A more focused pack centered on the aviation experience without the kitchen-sink companions. Lighter on resources and easier to balance for smaller groups. Good if you want Aeronautics as the main attraction and not just one mod among many.
AeroSociety
A community-built Modrinth pack that emphasizes survival progression with Aeronautics gating. Smaller player base but a passionate community. Worth a look if you have already played the bigger packs and want something different.
Create Aeronautics Standalone
Just Create + Sable + Create Aeronautics on a clean NeoForge instance. Maximum control, minimum bloat. Best for technical players who want to add only the mods they care about. Be aware: a clean install is also the easiest configuration to debug if you hit crashes.
Server Requirements & RAM Guide
Aeronautics is heavier than vanilla Create. Every active aircraft is a rigid-body physics simulation that ticks every server tick, and large airships with hundreds of moving blocks will stress both CPU and memory. Use this table as a starting point:
| Modpack | RAM | Players | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standalone Aeronautics | 6 GB | 5-10 | Lightweight if you skip companion mods. |
| All of Create — Aeronautics | 8-10 GB | 5-15 | Recommended pick. Balanced content + performance. |
| Create Aeronautica | 6-8 GB | 5-10 | Lighter, faster startup. |
| AeroSociety | 8 GB | 5-10 | Quest-driven, moderate footprint. |
| Large communities | 12+ GB | 15+ | Multiple active aircraft per player drives CPU hard. |
Pro Tip
Aeronautics is more CPU-bound than RAM-bound. Each flying contraption runs full rigid-body physics every tick — five active airships will tax a CPU more than 50 stationary Create factories. If your server lags when players take off, the CPU is the bottleneck. See our RAM guide and lag fix guide for deeper tuning.
NeoForge & Java 21 Required
Create Aeronautics targets NeoForge 1.21.1 and requires Java 21. Older Forge or Java versions will not boot. Verify with java -version before starting your server.
Option A: Quick Setup with ModReady
The fastest path. ModReady pre-configures NeoForge 1.21.1, Java 21, optimized JVM flags, and all the dependencies Aeronautics needs to fly. No crash-loops, no version mismatches, no router config.
- Pick All of Create — Aeronautics from the ModReady checkout page
- Choose a plan sized for your group (Pro tier and above for the heavier packs)
- Name your server and complete checkout
- Share your server address with friends and start engineering
Your server is online in roughly two minutes. Backups, DDoS protection, and a custom subdomain come standard. If you want to try a different Aeronautics pack later, swap modpacks from the control panel — your world stays intact when the mods are compatible.

Option B: Self-Hosting Your Server
If you want to run Aeronautics on your own hardware, here is the process. Plan on roughly an hour from cold start to first flight, plus some debugging if you hit dependency issues.
Requirements
- Java 21 (NeoForge 1.21.1 will not run on Java 17)
- At least 8 GB of available RAM (10+ GB recommended for All of Create — Aeronautics)
- A modern CPU — physics simulations love clock speed
- SSD storage for fast chunk loading
- Access to your router for port forwarding
Step 1: Install Java 21
Grab the latest Java 21 LTS build from Adoptium. Verify the install:
java -version # Should show: openjdk version "21.x.x"Step 2: Download the Server Pack
Open the modpack's CurseForge or Modrinth page and download the server pack for the version you want to run (e.g. Aoc_Aeronautics_v1.4_serverpack.zip). Make sure you grab the server pack, not the client pack — they are different downloads.
Step 3: Extract and Configure
- Create a new folder for your server (e.g.
aeronautics-server) - Extract the server pack into the folder
- Run the included install script once to fetch NeoForge and the mods
- Open
server.propertiesand configure:view-distance=10(Aeronautics rewards higher view distance — you see your aircraft from further away)simulation-distance=8max-players=15online-mode=true
Step 4: Set JVM Flags and Start
Create a start script with these flags. Adjust -Xmx10G based on your pack and player count.
java -Xmx10G -Xms10G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -jar neoforge-server.jar noguiEdit eula.txt to eula=true and start the server again.
Step 5: Open Port 25565
Forward TCP port 25565 from your router to your server's local IP. Step-by-step instructions are in our port forwarding guide.
New World Recommended
Several Aeronautics packs alter world generation. Generate a fresh world for your first run rather than importing an existing one — it avoids most chunk corruption and missing-block crashes that show up when you mix worldgen mods with old terrain.
Performance Tips for Aeronautics Servers
Physics simulations are where Aeronautics differs from a standard Create or kitchen-sink server. The same tuning that helps a vanilla Create server only takes you halfway. Here is what actually moves the needle:
Cap Active Contraption Count
Edit the Aeronautics common config and lower maxActivePhysicsBodies if your server hosts more than ten active aircraft at once. Each body is a separate physics tick. Five players each flying their own airship is fine; five players each flying three is asking for trouble.
Limit Contraption Block Counts
Set maxBlocksMoved in the Create config to a sensible number (1024 is a good balance). Massive 4000-block flying fortresses look amazing in screenshots and crash servers in production.
Pregenerate the World
Aeronautics players cover ground fast. A modest plane will fly across the world generating new chunks as it goes, and chunk generation is the single biggest cause of mid-flight TPS drops. Use Chunky to pre-gen a 5000+ block radius before your players take off.
Profile with Spark
Install Spark and run /spark profiler when you notice lag. Aeronautics' physics ticks show up clearly in the report. If a single contraption is dominating the tick budget, you can ask the player to redesign or split it.
Common Issues & Fixes
Server crashes on startup with a missing-mod error
Aeronautics requires Sable and Create as dependencies. If you installed Aeronautics manually, double-check that both are present and at compatible versions. The All of Create — Aeronautics server pack handles this for you.
Aircraft fall apart mid-flight
Usually caused by exceeding maxBlocksMoved when assembling. The contraption assembles, runs out of physics budget mid-air, and gets disassembled. Lower the build complexity or raise the config limit (carefully).
TPS tanks when a player takes off
Either chunk generation along the flight path or too many simultaneous physics bodies. Pregen with Chunky, cap active contraptions in the config, and check Spark for the heaviest ticking contraption.
Java version mismatch errors
NeoForge 1.21.1 needs Java 21. Servers running Java 17 will fail with bytecode errors. Confirm with java -version and update if needed.
Multiplayer Build Ideas
Things to Try With Friends
- Air mail logistics. Build automated drone routes between team bases using Create's item depots and Aeronautics' autopilots. The Aeronautics community has been sharing drone schematics on Reddit and Discord — feel free to remix them.
- Air races. Pick a start and finish point, build a checkpoint course in the sky, and time each player's lap. Whoever crashes the least wins.
- Sky bases. Use Aeronautics' large airships as movable home bases. Combine with Create's storage drawers and depots for a real flying fortress.
- Cargo flights. Set up trade routes where players ferry resources between bases. Heavier cargo means slower ships, which adds a real economic dimension.
- Back up before test flights. Especially when assembling experimental airships. Aeronautics is fun precisely because failure modes are dramatic — a backup gives you the freedom to try things you would not otherwise risk.
Once you and your friends are comfortable with Aeronautics, the natural next step is to look at the wider Create modpack ecosystem. Our Create server guide covers the rest of the family, and the All of Create server guide dives into the kitchen-sink Create experience.
